VFR1200 Standard 2010-2012
Heli Modified started making VFRs more comfortable in 1986 and has sold tens of thousand sof HeliBars to VFR customers around the world. Heli Modified knows VFRs, and VFRs with HeliBars equals Comfort Without Compromise! Check out the recent article in Motorcyclist Magazine!

New HeliBars for the 2010 VFR1200R
The new VFR's fairing and fuel tank really created a design challenge for the development of a HeliBar to improve the stunning new machine's long distance comfort. It took several prototypes and lots of refinements to get it right, nearly 3 times longer than our normal development time for a new HeliBar design. The time was well spent and we are very excited about our n ewest member of our VFR HeliBar Family.Although, this bar is not as tall and rear offset as some owners might like, we designed a HeliBar with the most comfortable hand position the bike would allow and it works with all stock hydraulics, cables and control wire looms.
- 2" (50 mm) Taller
- 1" (25 mm) Rearward
- 1" (25 mm) Wider (at 26 1/2)
- 8 degree reduction in downward angle
- 3.18 degree reduction in rearward angle
**NOTE: When R&D was conducted on the VFR1200 & VFR1200 DCT the stock bikes did not include the optional wind screen. The optional wind screen can interfere on the left side at full lock to lock. We have heard from the field that pulling the left bar back towards the rider as close as possible without contacting the fairing alleviates this situation.

I installed the bars last
I installed the bars last week and have now had an opportunity to ride my VFR several times. For me these bars are the perfect addition... not too high, but enough to take weight off my hands and allow me to sit a touch further back on a little bit wider part of the seat.
I at first balked a bit at the cost, but everything - including turn around time (less than a week) on my order, the packaging, the workmanship and installation instructions - not to mention the engineering, is excellent. It is a real pleasure to experience this level of quality (you don't see it everywhere these days). Thank you.

Installed your bars Saturday, piece o' cake. Well designed, accurately machined, thorough instructions, any reasonably experienced home mechanic should be able to handle it quite easily.
One suggestion... to simplify alignment, could you stamp a couple radial index marks on the fork tube clamp while they are still in the jig?
Dennis, Thank you for the
Dennis,
Thank you for the input, we will pass this along to the engineering staff. Enjoy your bars and safe riding.

Had these installed by a local dealer, here were the issues encountered:
- Left side Helibar was easily adjustable for upper fairing clearance and clutch lever positioning
- Trying to matchup the right side with the left side positioning took numerous hours to make it barely tolerable for upper fairng clearance on the right side. At the best adjustment point the master brake cylinder still clips the upper fairing.
- Reversed the order of adjustment by following the 1/8" clearance as stated in the instructions rendered the right side with unacceptable upper fairing clearance. Even with the 1/8" clearance from starter switch to the tank the master brake cylyinder still managed to rub against upper fairing.
- Making full lock right turns with the current adjustment settings are far worse than stock handlebars. The ability in making lock to lock right turns from a dead stop or slow speeds are sacrificed for the sake of straightline riding comfort.
Final conclusion to this product:
- Bars should be 1/8 shorter for height and 1/8" narrower for width. This will allow for additional wiggle room for proper adjustment of controls on both sides - primarily the throtte cable, master brake cylinder and brake
At this point I'd settle for my stock bars and return these with an exchange for a new set of re-engineered set of Helibars. I'd return these but unfortunatley I paid a fortune for labor fees at my local dealership to get these helibars and a set of factory grip heaters installed.
In a positive note however I have been very happy with past purchases of Helibars. I have never had any quality or fitment issues for several different motorcycles I have owned in the past.

I am sorry for the problems both you and your dealer have experienced with the installtion of your bars. We always encourage dealers to give us a call if they are having issues. Based on your descriptions and the installation instructions it sounds like STEP 14 was not followed accurately. "Install the front brake master cylinder onto the right HeliBar. Make sure the clamps up arrow is facing properly. Use caution not to mar the powder coat finish. There should be a 5/8" gap between the master cylinder clamp and the throttle housing. Lightly tighten the master cylinder at this time. Install right damper weight."
Should you have any additional concerns please feel free to give us a call at 800-289-1047.
2010 VFR1200F
I have already ordered a set, and I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival. If they are anything like the kit I had for my CBR1000RR, they are going to be a godsend to long distance travel, and that bike was way more involved for installation.
As for the comments on the DCT, I would do what the man suggests and order a pair. The installation is simple and you will know right away if it's going to work. If it doesn't, these people will bend over backwards to be of service to solve the problem. This bike is barely out into the public domain in the USA at this point, and the Heli people are doing their best to get on top of it when someone graciously makes their bike available for fitment. I have not even seen a DCT in a dealer yet.
Whoever got the first pair has probably not stopped smiling (or riding) yet to post ;)
Offset is way too optimistic
I own a VFR1200F DCT. Comparing your photo of the right grip to my bike, it appears that the bar is no more than 1" higher at most and maybe 1/2" rearward, judging by the relative location of the brake line header. Plus there certainly is not 2+ inches of extra brake line to work with, maybe 1" at most if all the slack were taken out (leaving no slack for side to side turning of the bars). Please post up the actual offset dimensions. Also, have you confirmed these will be compatible with the DCT version? Thank you.
VFR1200
Hi Bill,
Your skepticism about the new VFR's ability to accept a taller and more rearset handlebar is justified.
When I first got my hands on the VFR 1200 I thought, "This bike is not going to give up it's comfort easily." To look at the changes in the new VFR HeliBars at the fork tube alone only shows half the changes made over the stock bar. By reducing the downward angle 8 degrees and moving the riser back closer to the rear of the fork tubes, we produced a HeliBar that is exactly 2" taller measured at the end of the bar where your hand rests. The new bars hand position, more comfortably supports reduced weight and pressure.
Heli Modified has always taken it's measurement of it's HeliBars, TracStars or Tour Performance products at the end of the handlebar where your hand is placed to give an exact measurement of change.
We have not yet confirmed that our newest HeliBar fits the auto shift dual clutch version. The bike we used for development was an ABS version. We feel hopeful that this bar will work with the auto shift as well as the non-abs models.
As always, HeliBars stands behind it's products and offers a 30 day money back guarantee. If you are not happy with your purchase for any reason, you can send your HeliBars back for a full product refund.

Thanks Harry for the
Thanks Harry for the clarification. The Honda dealer has a DCT demo bike on which they will mount the new bars to see if they will be compatible and certainly I'll give that a test ride to see if the bars work for me. Thanks again, Bill
Hi Bill,
We just received word from a local dealer that the bars WILL NOT fit the DCT version. We hope to have a set of bars for this model in early Fall. We are happy to keep your information on a waiting list. Email us at quality@HeliBars.com.
1200 dct
hi! I want to buy a vfr 1200 dct, but only if I can find a more confortable handlebar: do you have news on the dct version? thanks a lot

These were simple to install and they work great. Definetly worth the money and completly changes the weight on your hands, much, much better!! You will have a slightly reduced lock to lock( left turn), because I have the optional wind screen but who cares.. just make right hand u-ees...
