ST1300 Product Re-Design

Shortly after Honda released it's amazing ST1300 in 2003, HeliBars began developing new ways to reposition the stock handlebars to improve long distance comfort.  This was no easy task considering what a great job Honda did with the ergonomic layout of it's new Sport Tourer.

First we had to understand what our customers would be looking for in a handlebar change and how they would be using their ST1300.  Honda already builds the world's most luxurious Touring Motorcycle, and this fact is undisputed.  So what was our mission with the ST? By sport bike standards, the ST1300 is sporty yet comfy, but by touring standards the ST's reach to the bars becomes more of a distraction as neck and shoulder pains begin to set in.

The decision HeliBars made early on in it's design approach was that it's customers were going to be using their ST1300 as a lighter, lower cost alternative to the GL1800.

Harry Eddy's first adapter design positioned the handgrips higher and closer to the rider while providing improved wrist angles.  Never before has a product existed that does what the HeliBars HRA does for comfort.  What we invented was a handlebar riser possessing both an offset mounting platform with a compound angled and rotated top surface.

Over the last seven years we have made several revisions to the original design to improve both fit and function.  The large center bore was added to access the steering stem nut, the anti-rotational rubber bumpers were added to reduce unwanted handlebar flexing and the tapered lower adapters edges to ease wire loom scuffing.

HeliBars has always taken advantage of opportunites to improve it's products, even those as successful as it's ST1300 Bar Adapter, and successful it has been!

  • 2” Taller (50mm) than stock (1” higher than our original design)
  • 2.5” Rear Offset (62mm) closer to the rider (1/2” additional reduction in reach than our original design)
  • 2 ½ degree reduction in handgrip rearward angle. This single update is the most significant in terms of true long distance comfort because it rotates the rider’s wrist into a more natural position.

Additional update features:

  • Larger more ridged rubber anti flex bumpers greatly reduce unwanted handlebar movement.
  • Drain holes placed at the bottom of the main mounting bolt counter bores eliminates water from pooling and rusting the hardware.
  • Re-designed shape with contoured cover vastly improves appearance fit and function.
  • Allows easier access to air filter maintenence.
  • Contoured cut channels position control housing wire looms neatly in place and keeps them from being pinched by the fuel tank at full lock positon.
  • Improved viewing in mirrors.
  • 3 different models to give you those additional features you may require.

Genuine HeliBars Comfort Without Compromise.
